A couple of months ago I decided to spend a weekend outside Berlin, see the sea and disconnect from the big city. For this first contact with the Baltic Sea coast we chose Lübeck and although we weren’t lucky with the weather, we enjoyed the trip!

When travelling to Lübeck

1. Wander the streets
   Lübeck is a city full of charming spots, nothing better than forgetting Google maps for a while and go with the flow.
2. The views from the St. Petri church
   One of the best views of the city. From its tower you can see Holstentor, Salzspeicher or Marienkirche.
3. Marzipan
   Don’t leave Lübeck without tasting its famous marzipan! In the Niederegger establishment you can find a wide range. I recommend trying the Marzipantorte cake.
4. Stay in one of its old houses
   Live a more authentic experience staying in one of its fairytale houses.
5. Timmendorfer Strand
   For those who also want to enjoy the sea, I would recommend taking a train to Timmendorfer Strand. It only takes 15 minutes and you can visit a typical Baltic beach with its pier and beach chairs (in German Strandkorb).

Hace un par de meses decidí pasar un fin de semana fuera de Berlín, ver el mar y desconectar de la gran ciudad. Para este primer contacto con la costa del mar Báltico elegimos Lübeck y aunque el tiempo no acompaño, disfrutamos del viaje!

5 consejos para disfrutar de tu estancia en Lübeck

1. Piérdete por sus calles
   Lübeck es una ciudad llena de rincones con encanto, nada mejor que olvidar Google maps por un rato y dejarse llevar.
2. Las vistas desde la iglesia de St. Petri
   Una de las mejores panorámicas de la ciudad la podéis disfrutar desde la iglesia St. Petri. Desde su torre podréis contemplar Holstentor, Salzspeicher o Marienkirche.
3. Mazapán
   No te vayas de Lübeck sin degustar su famoso mazapán! en el celebre establecimiento Niederegger lo podéis encontrar en todas sus variedades. Yo recomiendo probar la tarta Marzipantorte.
4. Alójate en una de sus antiguas casas
   Vive una experiencia más auténtica alojándote en una de sus casas de cuento.
5. Timmendorfer Strand
   Para los que además queréis ver mar y playa,  recomendaría tomar un tren a Timmendorfer Strand. Tan solo se tardan 15 minutos y podréis visitar una típica playa del mar Báltico con su muelle y sus sillones de playa (en alemán Strandkorb).
