How are you doing? I am glad to be back with my first post about San Sebastian!
San Sebastian, in Basque called Donostia and for many ‘donostiarras’ or people from San Sebastian called with affection Donosti, is the place where I was born and where I have lived most of my life. Those of you who have walked the city centre, I am sure you know this feeling of passing by classical buildings which recall this sort of Belle èpoque atmosphere.
In my case, I had inevitably long looked up to those rooftops and thought how would Donosti look like from above? The ideal building to go up and enjoy those views is the Catedral del Buen Pastor, but the ascent to its tower seemed to be almost impossible as it is not adapted to visits.
However, I was lucky enough to discover that the cultural association Atari had organised ascents to the tower of the cathedral the last years due to the European Heritage Days. Therefore, last September I was able to fulfill my dream of contemplating all those little rooftops. I will post some photos, so that you can get an idea of how our ‘petit Paris’ looks like.
The ascent to the tower is not the easiest one, but I highly recommend the experience. On this link you can read more details about the activity.

¿Qué tal estáis? Me alegra volver a vosotros con la primera publicación que escribo sobre San Sebastián!
San Sebastián, en euskera Donostia y para muchos donostiarras llamada con cariño Donosti, es el lugar donde nací y donde he pasado prácticamente la mayor parte de mi vida. Quienes habéis paseado por el centro de la ciudad, conoceréis la sensación de recorrer calles de edificios clásicos que evocan aires de Belle èpoque.
Para mi ya hacía tiempo que era inevitable mirar hacia arriba y pensar ¿cómo se vería Donosti desde las alturas? El edificio idóneo para subir y disfrutar de las vistas era la Catedral del Buen Pastor, pero la subida a su torre parecía casi imposible ya que no está adaptada para visitas.
Sin embargo, mi suerte dio un giro cuando descubrí que la asociación cultural Atari había organizado subidas a la torre de la catedral los últimos años con motivo de las Jornadas Europeas de Patrimonio. De forma que el pasado septiembre pude cumplir el sueño de contemplar nuestros tejaditos donostiarras desde las alturas. Os dejo algunas fotos para que os hagáis una idea de como se ve nuestro petit Paris.
El ascenso a la torre no es el más sencillo pero la experiencia es altamente recomendable. En este enlace podéis ver más detalles sobre la actividad.
